The name 'La Petite Herse' which when translated means 'The Little Harrow', gives a clue as to the original use of the house and the surrounding area. It is situated in the marshes with beautiful fields of maize, sunflowers and grazing cattle. To say that it is not overlooked is an understatement as the nearest neighbour is a quarter of a kilometre away across the fields and woods. Most days we may see or hear perhaps only 2 or 3 vehicles from the house and these are usually farm tractors
. The sandy beaches are only 3 miles away. The busy cosmopolitan seaside town of St. Jean de Monts is 5 miles away and the local village of Orouet complete with restaurants, bars and shops only 1 mile away.
